Week #2: GDSO - Signature Challenge - ARTSY LAYERED TEMPLATE by Chunlin Designs

The challenge was to use an artsy template as a base and then make it your own by adding to it, removing items, etc. 

I then went to town moving some of the brushes around and added a bit more grunge to the page by playing with stamps….

 Changing the color of the items with your color box layer was amazing!  I want to do this with many more elements to achieve a better blend with my photos!

BOOK COVER 2: Combining Text & Graphics to Make a Graphic

I was inspired by Book Cover 2 which involved picking a word and shaping it into a graphic made up of the individual letters.  I decided to choose a word that has become a symbol of the current times…a face mask.

 I began the challenge with one layout but then I realized that the text was not big enough.  I had to re-adjust my layout to focus mainly on my face.  I still liked my first layout though, so I added it to the final creation..

Journaling: Once Spring arrives, it is a perfect time to head out to a local garden center or nursery to check out all the flowers and fresh vegetables available for planting.  Our family found this new plant place and were delighted to discover many varieties of perennials, annuals, and succulents.  During our visit, we found this beautiful Garden Obelisk and the kids really enjoyed this special place.  It was a wonderful day and we were very lucky to document these memories since this establishment closed down soon afterwards…

 TECHNICAL - Photo Treatment Challenge:

This week’s Technical Challenge for the GDSO was a difficult one for me but I discovered my Filters Menu in PSE and boy did I have to stop myself from overdoing it and trying out each one…..

 Once I was happy with the details and softness of the chosen photo, I decided on a glorious new release from Heartstrings Scrap Art.  It is called Time Flies.  It is filled with eclectic items and has a vintage and steampunk vibe!   Designed in beautiful colours and magical surprises, you can use this mega collection for just about anything

 Challenge:  Week #1: GDSO - Technical Challenge - PHOTO TREATMENT CHALLENGE | PiCKLEBERRYPOP FORUMS

 Information on Techniques:  (I found my filters—wow is this too cool)

1.     Filter, Artistic, Poster Edges (Edge Thickness and Edge Intensity)

2.     Filter, Artistic, Rough Pastels (Played with Stroke Length and Detail)

3.     Brush, Accent Edges (Brightness and Sharpness)

4.     Filter , Brush Strokes, Accent Edges (Edge Brightness and Smoothness)

5.     Blend:  Lens Flair

6. Layer Blending Opacity to blend into paper

 SHOWSTOPPER - Big and Little Photo:

This Showstopper Challenge was all about using a large and a little photo in one layout in addition to a few more requirements.

I decided to use a template to help me out a little and selected Art Therapy #3 from Heartstrings Scrap Art.  This template has a spot for a big photo and a little photo and also incorporates a mask into the big photo.

 The kit choice is Music is a Piece of Art Bundle from Heartstrings Scrap Art.  It is music themed primarily but the colors were perfect for my big photo!
